Valhalla 46 with Marlin Tower
Here’s yet another special Valhalla 46 – this one a custom metallic blue V-46 with a Palm Beach Towers (PBT) marlin tower. The owner is a car enthusiast and selected a specific paint – Axalta Imron Venice Blue – that closely resembles the distinctive Guardsman Blue that was used on the famous Ford Shelby Cobra.
The PBT marlin tower heightens the boat’s fishability, but the owner and his wife also plan to use the tower simply to cruise the lagoons in the Ocean City, New Jersey, area and the canals and Intracoastal Waterway of Fort Lauderdale. Here’s some feedback from the owner after one of their first cruises in Ocean City: "Last night we took a ride in the early evening. As we were going through the lagoons we were shocked by the reaction to the boat. There were people coming out of their homes taking pictures, yelling how beautiful the boat looked. One guy went into his house to bring about 10 people out to see it. Several people stopped us to ask about it, it was unbelievable!” The boat features a custom welded footrest between the tower legs (below) and cupholders have been added to the tower to maximize the couple’s comfort during those cruises.
As you can see the hardtop’s underside matches the hull color. The owner raves about the visibility from both the lower helm and the helm in the tower.
The owner has also been very impressed with the torque, responsiveness, joystick handling and quiet operation of the quad Mercury 7.6-liter V12 600-hp Verado outboards, which look stunning next to the custom faux teak transom. The boat is rigged to fish, with windows and lights and clear lids for the dual 54-gallon transom live wells. Also, take note of the optional transom rod holders added to each side of the live well. The owner will primarily hunt for tuna and marlin in the Northeast Canyons in the summer; down in Florida, the V-46 will be used for chasing sailfish and bottom fishing out of the Fort Lauderdale area.
With the Valhalla 46, the owner and his wife got the creature comforts they were looking for in a premium center console, which includes the boat’s air-conditioned console with 6 feet, 7 inches of headroom. The free-flowing open layout – featuring a horizontal grain natural walnut interior and custom Amtico sole – is filled with natural light flowing through four shapely portlights. Forward, a dinette with U-shaped seating and bolstered backrest surrounds a drop-down table that converts to a queen berth. A standard 32-inch HD TV is forward. On the starboard side is the galley, which features a polished Corian countertop, stainless steel sink, brushed nickel and chrome faucet, two-burner recessed stove, refrigerator/freezer, microwave oven and cabinet storage.
The tour of our V-46 wouldn’t be complete without a look inside the machinery room, the dedicated enclosed (and easily accessible) space that houses key electrical and mechanical equipment, such as the generator, batteries, water heater along with a number of other components and controls that maximize serviceability and accessibility.
