Viking Mullica Update
Major progress has been made with the second phase of our expansion of Viking Mullica, where the Valhalla Boatworks (VBW) V-33, V-37, V-41 and V-46 are manufactured. We showed you initial photography of the project earlier this summer when the steel framework was being installed (above). Well, we’ve come a long way since then. Here’s a new series of images.
This phase provides 12,000 additional square feet of manufacturing space by extending the back side of Building 1. The photos above and below – taken last month – show that the concrete floors have been poured for the two-story structure, and the steel roof (protected by a coating of an aluminum-zinc alloy called GALVALUME) has been installed. All entry doors have been installed, and you can see (below) the openings for the building’s two interior staircases.
The next pair of photos – taken in early August – show that the sides of the steel building have been installed, as well as three roof ventilators. “The exterior of the building is complete with the exception of four garage doors, which will provide access for machinery and transportation of materials,” says Viking Plant Engineering Manager Jeff Staub. There are three ground-level doors on each side of the building, as well as a fourth door for access to the second floor (as shown in the image above). “The project has gone smoothly, and we’ve had minimal supply chain issues,” adds Jeff. “We’re finishing up the electrical, and the fire system and interior bathrooms will also be installed very soon.”
The installation of the building’s freight elevator will be complete this week – its framework can be seen on the left in the above image. The two sets of interior staircases are being fabricated, and their installation will soon follow. The building is scheduled for completion in the next month and will become operational immediately after that. Like the first phase of this expansion project, the purpose of this building is to provide Viking Mullica with more manufacturing space to increase overall efficiency in production.
Phase I connected Buildings 2 and 3 with a 6,000-square-foot addition to create one contiguous fiberglass manufacturing area. Both projects were undertaken in response to the growing demand for the V Series since the brand was announced in early 2019.
Stay tuned for more updates! And please feel free to contact your authorized VBW dealer for more information about the V Series. The V-46 Trust Fun with Palm Beach Towers gap tower and triple Mercury 600s is shown above.
